Unfortunately due to reasons related to the COVID-19 pandemic, this show is CANCELLED. We do not currently have plans to reschedule this event, but please follow us here and on social media (Instagram | Facebook | Twitter) for any further updates.

Some call Fiver's music country spiritualism, others call it folk, but who really cares? The songs are written, and they are played.

Fiver

Over the past 15 years, Simone Schmidt has worked under several aliases, fronting country act One Hundred Dollars (2007-11), psych rock unit The Highest Order (2011- 2017), and now Fiver (2012 – ongoing). Acclaimed for their songwriting and voice, Fiver does defy categorization - some call it Country Spiritualism, others call it Folk music, but who really cares? The songs are written, sung and they are played. This time, Fiver will be accompanied by Nick Dourado (piano, lap steel), Jeremy Costello (bass) and Nathan Doucet (drums) to play selections from their latest full length Fiver with the Atlantic School of Spontaneous Composition (Polaris long list 2021) and new work too, including arrangements of work from their forthcoming Soundtrack to A More Radiant Sphere (out July 8th on You’ve Changed Records).

Born in Sri Lanka, raised on Prince Edward Island, and based in Ottawa, Amanda Lowe Warnakulasuriya writes enchanting and heartbreaking experimental-folk music. Blending in her folk roots - from both islands that raised her, she builds sentient walls of sound that help you grieve and love, making you feel both nostalgic and at home, all at once. With a voice like honey, Amanda breaks your heart open, only to make you feel whole again.
