The screening will be preceded by a performance by Toronto music/sound artist and DJ Pursuit Grooves, and DJ sets by Pink Veil and Lamb Fatale.

SISTERS WITH TRANSISTORS is the remarkable untold story of electronic music’s female pioneers, composers who embraced machines and their liberating technologies to utterly transform how we produce and listen to music today.
The film maps a new history of electronic music through the visionary women whose radical experimentations with machines redefined the boundaries of music, including Clara Rockmore, Daphne Oram, Bebe Barron, Pauline Oliveros, Delia Derbyshire, Maryanne Amacher, Eliane Radigue, Suzanne Ciani, and Laurie Spiegel.
About the Artist
Pursuit Grooves
Under the moniker Pursuit Grooves, American born, Toronto based Vanese Smith has released numerous sonically adventurous projects over the last two decades. Her latest albums include Bess, a tribute to the first Black American female pilot Bessie Coleman and Mo:Delic Island, a fictional location filled with mystical creatures supported by Smith's imaginative fantasy art. Creating genre-bending soulful and bass laden electronic music she has performed internationally at theaters and festivals (MUTEK, Sonar, Movement) as well as hosted workshops on creative sound sources and unique music production techniques. Recently she served as consultant and instructor on the forthcoming Disney film Spin, highlighting young DJs and music makers. She also co-runs the music producer organization Loop Sessions Toronto.
