A signature building-wide art party like no other, Pique kicks of the summer season with live music, installations, DJs, and more
Anishinaabe-Algonquin land - May 1, 2024
The summer edition of Pique, the seasonal festival series that takes over the downtown Arts Court building complex, is always the largest and most dynamic of the year, and the 2024 summer edition is no exception. Held indoors and outdoors, Pique takes over three floors, nine stages and exhibition spaces, and half of Daly Avenue. The festival showcases innovative and underground music and art for all ages, and admission is pay-what-you-can.
Featuring performances by bold hyperpop songwriter and performance artist Alice Longyu Gao, psychotropical dub producer Honeydrip, spellbinding composer-musician Masahiro Takahashi, commanding punk rave duo Pelada, contemporary Inuit throat-singers Silla, sky-gazing performance art environmentalists Horizon Factory, high-octane selector angelphroot, community-engaged improviser Douglas Ewart, ballroom performance artists BubbleGum 007 and Fiji Siriano 007, afro-diasporic sound selector San Farafina, and many more. With programs guest curated by Chukwubuikem & Kosisochukwu Nnebe and Harley Wegner, Pique summer edition is a confluence of curatorial perspectives, and a showcase of global and diasporic subcultures.
In total, over 30 artists and curators will present work across nine stages and exhibition spaces, featuring live music, dance, performance art, visual media, and installation. Plus, the Pique art market returns to Daly Avenue featuring more than 25 artist and food vendors (learn more about how to submit at debaser.ca).

Featuring dynamic performances and live-to-air interviews, the Pique live broadcast features exclusive content and professional-quality audio and visuals, making it about as good as being there in person. PROGRAMMING
Ranging from psychedelic dub, bold hyperpop, ethereal new age, visionary free jazz, high-octane hardcore, afro-diasporic polyrhythms, and many things in between, the music/sound programming at Pique summer edition will be diverse and dynamic as ever, drawing from underground music scenes around the globe.
Ground-breaking performance and visual artists are taking over several overlooked spaces around the Arts Court to bring site-responsive installations and interventions that explore gender and sexuality, spirituality, materiality, and environmentalism.
Arrive early to engage in creative workshops in movement and community sound-making, shop local arts and crafts at the Art Market, and savour a variety of local flavours from our food vendors. Stay late to dance under the stars and the big screen to the sounds of several innovative dancefloor selectors. The days are longer in the summer and so is Pique, with twelve hours of forward-thinking artist-driven programming to experience.
ACCESSIBILITY AND HARM REDUCTION
As always, Pique is all-ages and pay-what-you-can. Radically inclusive, safer, and more accessible, Pique’s programming is designed to cultivate shared understanding, joy, and social impact. The event site is accessible, with automated doors, accessible gender-neutral washrooms, and elevator access to all levels. Our EQUIPE harm reduction team will be on-site to support audience members, and our staff and volunteers are trained with harm reduction strategies to support audience members throughout the event.
Tickets are available at a sliding-scaleof $25-50, and audience members are also invited to register for our pay-what-you-can program for subsidized tickets. Tickets are general admission and offer access to all of the event spaces and stages, subject to capacity.
