Explore movement and sound-making at three FREE workshops taking place at Pique summer edition!
The Kayin Queeley and Shaina Thornhill of the Montreal Steppers present “1, 2, Step! Workshop” introducing participants to the joy of creating music with their bodies. Stomps, claps and chants will be combined into rhythms and beats, while exploring the history of step and making music as a team! Curated by Chukwubuikem and Kosisochukwu Nnebe for The Seeds We Carry.
The “Ludophone Improvisation Workshop” by Douglas R. Ewart and Jesse Stewart features North America’s only set of ludophones—brightly coloured percussion instruments that were created with musical inclusivity and creative play in mind. Previous musical training is not required.
Finally, the “Vogue Fem Workshop” by BubbleGum 007 + Fiji Siriano 007 celebrates femininity through an exploration of the five elements of vogue, including the history and significance behind each motion. Beyond the fundamentals, participants will also explore musicality and personal essence. Curated by Chukwubuikem and Kosisochukwu Nnebe for The Seeds We Carry.
Workshop programming at Pique is FREE. No pre-registration is required.
