Meet Najeeba Ahmed (@ajeebsir), the designer of our Pique 2023 visual identity.
Known for an amorphous and dynamic visual language, their work is the embodiment of the attention to detail and beauty that we aim to capture with these events. We asked Najeeba a few questions about their practice and vision for Pique’s 2023 visual identity.
Tell us about yourself and what you aim to communicate and investigate with your visual work?
I am an artist and designer based in Ottawa, Canada. My practise is very interdisciplinary, but focuses on the digital medium as a tool to discover new meanings and ontologies between technology and the collective human experience. A creative process involving experimentation, tinkering, and abstraction opens up a dialogue between myself, the tool and the viewer.
What sources of inspiration have shaped your style?
I take inspiration from a variety of different sources. From other art forms such as animation (anime),architecture, music and book covers to natural forms in trees, plants, and geographic elements like water and rock materials.
What is your vision for Pique's 2023 graphic design identity?
The general vision for Pique 2023 is derived from the atmosphere of the seasons. Each of the four seasons bring forth a different feeling and so the visuals take inspiration from the aspects of each season. Water, heat, smoke, and ice are a few elements we see every year. It is a different take on celebrating the arts with the elements of the season.
