The second edition of Pique, a new forward-thinking artist-driven music and multimedia arts event series produced by Debaser, brings music, art, and performance to the Arts Court.
The multi-level building-wide arts event and digital program takes place September 11th, 2021 in-person in and around the Arts Court and Ottawa Art Gallery buildings, and online at thisispique.com.
Pique’s second edition will be a hybrid event featuring live in-person outdoor performances, indoor screenings and installations, and audio-visual works available on-demand.
Pique is experimental in form and content. Its second edition features:
Live performance by Polaris Prize-winning rapper and producer Backxwash with an original set design by Méchant Vaporwave.
An immersive audio-play with visual projections by Vancouver-based experimental industrial post-rap artist Debby Friday.
Live performance by Toronto-based RnB and electronic pop artist Quinton Barnes with visuals by Justin Atkins
Live performance by drag pop star and “retired cartoon” Frosty Valentine with her fully animatronic band, live dancers, and projections.
Live performance by local experimental rap and sound collage artist Jules Filmhouse.
Live performance by local artist and shape-shifting art rock enchanter/ress Lady Charles.
Audio-visual performance by Toronto-based electronic music producer and vocalist New Chance✧
Part rave, part drag show, part moshpit video performance by Providence, RI-based La Neve (also a member of Downtown Boys)✧
Video art by Baltimore-based electronic musician and multidisciplinary artist Abdu Ali✧
With Guest Curation by Shaya Ishaq, an interdisciplinary artist, designer and writer, whose research interests are engaged in craft, diaspora, design anthropology, and (afro)futurism. Her solo exhibition, Library of Infinities, is currently on display at the SAW Gallery.
